On the left, preserved LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 45305 'Alderman A.E.Draper', and on the left, LMS Stanier 8F 2-8-0 48624, two engines that worked through the dark years of World War II, survived the decay and decline of the steam era in the face of diesel development, and remain today as gleaming examples of a bygone age.
