www.richardackoon.com I was born and raised in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. My beloved uncle, Patrick Chu Foon, an acclaimed Trinidadian painter and sculptor, nurtured my artistic abilities and involvement in the fine arts. I moved to New York City in 1989 and completed a BFA Fine Arts degree at the School of Visual Arts, 1999, and had my first one-man show in Park Slope, Brooklyn, in November 2001.
