I'm Karla, the artist behind Planthem, working from a small village in southern Estonia. Most of what I make starts with Japanese woodblock prints — the flat colour, the heavy outline, the odd calm of a ukiyo-e scene — and then ends up somewhere it shouldn't: a yokai at Christmas, a cat running a noodle stall, a fish printed like a gyotaku rubbing. The plants that gave the shop its name are still in there too.
