Modoland

MoDoLaNd - Home of the Modotpetoc Tribe! Pre-Hispanic hunter-gatherers, the Modotpetoc were indigenous artisans. Induced trances inspired them to create figures and masks of their deceased ancestors. These images are of those "Lost Heads" exhumed from ancient burial sites hidden within sand dunes beneath the City of San Francisco. These dunes are the furthest inland of any on the west coast. The San Francisco City Hall and Civic Center are built on top of them.
