Amelia Whyman is a Baakindji, Malyangapa woman from Wilcannia on the Baaka (Darling River). When Amelia was 11 yrs old the Aboriginal flag was under private copyright so she made a new design which her father, Uncle Owen Whyman used as a logo for his Indigenous - Aboriginal Party. Her design includes the Kalthi-ngulu (Dark Emu) in the Ngamuruulu (Milky Way) telling the Baakindji when to hunt for kalthi parti (emu eggs) and the Ngatyi (Rainbow Serpent) on the wana (boomerang).
