After violently disassociating in my 30s, I was forced to come to terms with my past traumas that I had been repressing for decades. Now, married and with a young family, my brain is no longer allowing me the luxury of escape and denial. Through inpatient and outpatient therapy I have learned so much about myself and the impact my ptsd has taken on my life, even without my acknowledgment.
