Petrologist Sue was captivated by the vivid colours, shapes and patterns that appeared once a rock was viewed as a ‘thin section’ on a microscope slide, at only 0.03 microns. Rock samples could take on an entirely different life under the microscope, appearing as a unique abstract work of art. Sue wanted to find a wider audience for her mineral artwork. Sue tragically passed away suddenly in 2007, so this is Sue’s family sharing her work through this redbubble shop.
