Alan Bathearst is a semiprofessional illustrator and general artist living in Seattle. His work tends to draw from a pool of influences that heavily include pop art, graffiti, surrealist painting, and comic books. Many of his running themes involve play with contradictions or subverted expectations, often resulting in visual puns, feelings of faint unease, suspicions of insincerity (or, perhaps, unexpected genuine sincerity), and a "creepy-cute" aesthetic.
