Margaret "Meps" Schulte is a whimsical artist in Olympia, Washington who works in acrylic, pen-and-ink, and marker. She is best known as the creator of the Happy Spot and I Smile First. Meps is also the author and illustrator of Strangers Have the Best Candy, The Secret Society of Cats & Chickens, and the Joyful Bear.
