The Forum, Roma
"The Forum, Roma" is a lino cut print in black printed onto a sheet of newsprint from an Italian newspaper. The Roman Forum was the most important forum in ancient Rome, situated on low ground between the Palatine and Capitoline hills. It was a place of business in the widest sense, being the scene of public meetings, law courts, and gladiatorial combats in republican times and was lined with shops and open-air markets. My husband and I have been fortunate enough to visit Rome on numerous occasions, and we even married in Rome! On each trip ambling through the ruins of Forum imagining it's uses has been one of the highlights of our visit. The page of the newspaper I have print this piece on lists shares and investment prices to reflect the numerous business deals which would have been struck on the site in it's heyday.
