Substrata_3
The artist, Dickson Payne is a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Visual Artist based in Melbourne, Australia. The artist works on an open creative plane, allowing shape, color and texture to flow freely and without restraint. The ‘Substrata’ series is a body of work totaling 22 images that have all been created using predefined templates – similar to the process that is used for printmaking. The images are created digitally, using many individual layers. Some of the original layers originate from photographs, others from shapes and textures created specifically for the project. Each image is very different from the next, not just in color and texture but also in the atmosphere that they evoke.
