Lullaby

Criss-crossing branches in a gentle sway
seen by two eyes below a sleepless moon
when a heart is most certain that one must stay
and not return to slumber at home too soon.

Harmonizing crickets of choral gathering
heard by two ears under a hat of straw
as emotions are calmed by peace unwavering
in a sense that one can finally belong.

Lingering breezes in steady procession
felt by two arms behind a restless head
while a soul stirring makes no confession
of a growing want for its awaiting bed.

Tickling blades of a most yielding softness
touched by two legs stretched from ragged denim
when nothing can steal this happiness
that seemed to suddenly come at random.

Fleeing worries in a hurried mass
seen and heard by a silence so deep
as one is felt by contentment at last
and touched by the hand of a welcomed sleep.
