Be What You Are

A feeling that I can’t explain
Of happiness with no disdain
A coming to a happy place
I am in love with life’s own grace

I struggled through some bitter tears
Fighting demons and my fears
No worse off was I than the rest
Holding that to my own breast

Everyone is in this mess
We struggle for our happiness
This brings me comfort in this life
To know we are all given strife

I do not wish it upon others
It’s just a fact, my human brothers
Some have less, some have more
But all will sometimes fight a war

It makes us what we are today
We laugh, we cry from day to day
Hold your chin up as you walk
And follow it with your talk

Be what you are in every step
Not letting falseness be your rep
Be who you are and you will see
Happiness will follow thee
