Time Stands Still

The sun rises gently over the pale blue sky,
And I look to the distance and ask myself ‘why”?
‘Why’ is this happening to someone I love?
Why can’t a miracle be sent from above?

For years, we both shared happiness and strife,
Making fond memories as you lived a full life.
Laughing and playing and making the best
Of every situation, of every life test.

And then in a blink it seems you were gone
You quietly slipped to a world of your own.
Your memory was fading; your eyes lost their shine,
The times that we spent, erased from your mind.

A tear gently falls as I think of the days
Of laughter and joy and your fun loving ways.
And as I recall all the fun that we had
I suddenly see that life isn’t so bad.

We had wonderful years that were filled with such love;
And the love of our Father, always shone from above.
As we created the memories that I now have alone
I’ll savor these memories long after you’re gone.

As the sun sets so gently and the workday has ceased,
I now realize that your mind is at peace.
You’ve entered a place where I cannot go
But the love that we shared, you always will know.

And now that you’re gone and have left this earthly home,
I know you’re at peace by the Heavenly Father’s throne.
I miss you so deeply, my heart breaks in two,
But I know one glorious day, I’ll again be with you.
