Artist's Description

My vector drawing inspired by the ancient Chinese myth of the Cowherd and the Weaving Maid.

The Cowherd can only meet his wife (the Weaving Maid) and their family, on the 7th day of the 7th month, each year.
This is one of the most famous love stories in China and Scholars have shown the Double Seventh Festival originated from the Han Dynasty (206 BCE-CE220).
The Weaving Maid is actually from the heavenly Kingdom and is the daughter of the Jade Emperor and the empress of the Heavenly Kingdom. Everyday they use magic looms to weave beautiful clouds and rainbows.
The weaving maid comes to earth and marries the Cowherd but is forced to return to the heavenly kingdom and henceforth can only meet once a year by crossing the heavenly silver river.
