Artist's Description

A vector drawing (not auto trace) using one of my own pencil drawings as reference of a 19th century sailing ship battling stormy weather as it passes Bambrough Castle. The stormy sea was created in Gimp using another of my own pencil drawings.

No image may be reproduced, copied, edited, published, or uploaded without my permission.

The Bambrough Castle digital painting background was done using a reference original, out of copyright black and white engraving, from the Gutenberg Project.

Bambrough, which is now a small village, was a place of considerable importance during the Saxon period. King Ida, who ascended the throne of Bernicia in 559, first built a castle there, which he is said to have named Bebban-burgh in honour of his queen Bebba.
