Beyond My Reach (for now)

I once had a dream I was standing in a field of flowers
Soaking up the sweet scent of a temptation
Intoxicating beauty coupled with a angel’s smile
I saw you disappear from my dreams.
Suddenly the flowers began to die and I was standing alone
Without you.
Then I saw you again in the arms of another
What rage boiled inside me!
Followed by a crushing realisation that you had left me forever
But wait! Were you ever mine to begin with?
In my dream you held me
But that was only ever a dream
And now I find you have left for some far off place
Further than I can imagine.
You are an icon to millions
For something that is’nt real
Yet people claim to ‘know’ you
For they have met you in that far off place.
What am I to do now? Dream again?
Surely it is hell in that field without you?
Why should I revisit it?
But it is hell without you now
So do I dream or stay awake?
Which is the less of the two evils?
No! I choose not to surrender!
For I will again stand in that field and you shall join me
And outside too I shall find you
So that both of my worlds are complete.
Suddenly that far off place is getting closer
I can see the white sands of a new land!
You are there and I shall seek you out,
hold you in my arms and together
We shall build a new dream.
