Artist's Description

Cathedral church of Kazan Icon of the Virgin built 1634-1636 by architect Obrosim Maximov. Memorial in honour of the victory over the Poles during the Time of Trouble 1612. Client was tsar Michael Romanov and Patriarch Filaret. Pillarless one-domed church with one apse and closed vault. Asymmetrical construction with two side chapels with galleries at three sides and belfry at the north-west corner. Rased 1930 and reconstruct 1990-1993.
