Joe Jackson, my grandfather, 72 years old, born November 9, 1935. He was born into a large family, consisting of 3 boys, and 8 girls. Their were 11 people in his family in all. He was happy growing up in a large family because they helped each other, and had each others “back”. He was born in an era of depression and it was a hard time for everyone.
The only regrets in life for him, was the lack of money. However, he is very satisfied with who he is today. His hero from the past was Joe Louis, a boxer, whom he was named after. His hero now in life is Ali, another well known boxer.
He has several goals, one being, a pianist and singer like Nat Kingcole, and the other is becoming a “published” writer. He began playing the piano at 8 years old, by listening to his sister play. He developed his own style through many hours of practice. Joe started writing over 30 years ago, and has not quit. He continues to write daily. He followed his dreams; he wants to be remembered as a legacy. Joe wanted his grandkids to learn something about him and I have learned plenty because I write stories as well.
Joe is a man that believes in a higher power. He wishes he was 21, when he began his family that was the greatest time of his life. The best advice he ever heard, was from his mom- Do good everyday. One thing that remained the same throughout his life, is his “faith”, and one thing that has changed the most about his life, is his “knowledge”, he has become wiser and more understandable
