Artist's Description

The remains of Peel House, in Peel Park, Livingston., Scotland. Peel House once belonged to the Murray’s of Elibank in Peeblesshire: the Sir Patrick Murray (1632-1671) who created the garden in the grounds of Peel House where the park is today, was a keen naturalist who built a collection of nearly a thousand different species of flowers and plants, from across the British Isles and overseas.
