School text book illustration. Acrylic on canvas
( original ). This particular upload is a scan from
the textbook.
The university was, and is quite strict on
authenticity…..so there was much study
made on the actual measurements etc. of
the ark. This, of course, is from the story
of Noah and the Flood from the Old
Testament of the Bible. When all was done
the ark turned out to be quite different from
what we are all used to seeing in childrens
books, etc…. The “boat” of course had to be
very large to accomodate all God’s creatures
who were to be saved from the coming flood
……..therefore, the ark you see here.

ahhhhhhhhh now I see I thought you uploaded this from something that is not yours for the comment I like the light on the ARK it makes it look like even thought he seas are rough the is safety aboard thanks for sharing and lovely work :)
Yes, this was a painting I did for printing in a school textbook. Most of the painting….the ark specifically, was researched ( for me ) by people at the school who interpreted the authenticity of the way the ark actually looked and was described in the Bible ( King James Version ).
Excellent work… very special and wonderful composition!
Hi Avril, good to hear from you. Hope you are having a good holiday. Thank you for the comment. Hope you have a very special Christmas and Happy New Year.
Wow! this is amazing sweetheART so fluid ;} hugglez
Well thank you very much for commenting….and what a nice one!
Fantastic sense of power and movement in this wonderful painting. Very impressive work.
Oh you don’t know how much I appreciate that comment Bev. I look at it and feel that it is too stilted. The water looks too stiff to me. I have since done better with water, but still need some work.
This is excellent, Jane. Well researched and beautifully drawn, for the school illustration.
Love the motion and understated lightning – which is what I tried to get on my ‘Abbey’ painting and failed!
Any bright spark kid might ask, “How did they save kangaroos from OZ, pengys from Antarctica, and llamas from Peru?”
Thank you for your comment Colin. Oh, I don’t think you failed on your lightning Colin. Yours was just a stronger storm than mine!……Lightning comes both ways. As for the questions children might ask….well, I have gotten some from my grandsons that just left me speechless. I just had to say, I think your Dad needs to answer that one!
Wow, is this cool, and being authentic, that means cubits and stuff, right? And no oars or sails, just floating, with a lot of nervous critters, congrats to Noah!!
I have been reading this comment over and over and laugh a little harder each time. Anyway, yes, the researchers actually worked with the cubits and stuff to come up with this loooonnnggg ark. Has anyone told you that you look like Jack Benny? By the way, thanks for the comment Syd. Gotta go see your work.
“Well…”
