Health Care reform in 2011?

Ok now to predict the future….just for fun. But please remember that Heath Care is very very serious business. I just have an upbeat outlook no matter what.

I predict that a poor comprimise without the public option will be signed by Barack this fall. Too many democratic congressmen are way too tied to corporate america and have received too much money from the corporate health care lobby in the form of campaign contributions. As per a Huffington Post staffer, there are currently not enough votes for the public option.

So basically the poor bill reachs Obama and he signs it. Remember he is a pragmatist and will take a few slices instead of the full loaf if he has to. And unfortunately, I do agree with his approach.

Then we will continue with the health care mess. And it will be slightly better in the short run. But after a year or two, it will seem like not not much really happened. Big health care and big pharma will continue to have record profits by getting around the new reforms.

In the meantime there will be congressional elections. And the republicans will say health care is still a mess and the fault of the democrats because they controlled the presidency and congress when the (poor) legislation (without the public option) was passed.

And some of the incumbent blue dog democrats will face liberal challenges in their democratic primaries. These challenges will be from democrats who favor the public option. And it will be messy but Ill predict that more blue dogs will loose more than win. This is because the american people are desparate for better health care and better health care insurance. And they will vote for the candidate who supports the public option. They will see thru the republican smoke screen because they go to the doctor and dont have the money to pay. It is that simple.

Of course some of these new liberal democrats will be defeated by republicans in some districts based on the variety of demographics out there in the various congressional districts. But the bottom line is that people need health care and cannot pay for it. So in rough terms they will vote for candidates who can help them thru being in favor of the public option.

So basically I am predicting the public option after the next set of congressional elections and if I am wrong, it will happen after the next presidential elections. It is only a matter of time. Until then, I hope you dont get sick and cannot pay. I wish this was funny, but it is not.
