Hello Cousin Christine!

(This is an email I wrote to my cousin Christine, who is a doctor in Ottawa.)

I agree that the economy looks a bit bleak. But of course, when you don’t regulate greedy people it happens. And it will continue to happen, but I don’t really let it bother me. I try not to internalize problems over which I have no control.

But I will say this. Basically the politicians don’t regulate because they get campaign contributions from the people they are supposed to regulate. Somehow this money flow has to be stopped without violating the first amendment to the US Constitution, which allow this as an expression of free speech.

Obama will make things better. But the problems are so deep and systemic that he probably will end up just mitigating and not really changing the roots of the problem.

I think what will happen is new energy sources will be built into the infrastructure. Don’t know what the exact mixture of energy sources will be but I think it will likely be a mixture of wind, solar, bio fuel and maybe some other thing we don’t know about. This will cause an upswing to the economy.

Yes I am thinking about Haviland/Batchewana.(Canada where I grew up.) And even possibly Ottawa. Next summer. To me it is roots. It makes me think of my dad. A slight tear. But also my extended family. I just think that the whole thing out there was a biggie in getting my imagination going. You know. Storms. The Edmund Fitz. Sailing. Swimming. The sly smile that Tim always had. You were just a baby. Really. But the thing is that our parents talked about how wonderful we all were. And I wondered, as a boy, am I really that wonderful?….lol. I thought I was good. But not great! And I wondered if the Johns’ kids were really that wonderful also. And you all were….lol. But really it was wonderful parenting from all our parents. And that is what really mattered.

So anyway, next summer, I am up there!

When I see your boys, I always think, are they like Tim and Dan?….of course they are different.

Today, Suzy and I snowshoed. A perfect day to exercise. 25 degrees and sun. That is all that mattered.

I am painting up a storm. Sold 1000 prints last year at art shows. I have tilted a bit towards painting portraits of sports icons. Of course, the sports guys have nothing to teach us. But they do provide a great diversion from real life and I like a bit of that from time to time. And since this is a sports crazy country, people buy them. lol

Of course, should you want a freebie, just go to my website www.yessy.com/yevad98 and tell me which one you want and Ill ship it out to you poste haste.

Much happiness to you and your boys and family!
