Just a thought that is directed at no one in particular, only most. Suffice to say if the shoe fits…

All day I’ve been reading pick ‘n’ paste posts about the bravery of those who’ve died in foreign wars to protect our glorious, precious freedoms and the brave men and women who’ve died for our liberties. I would never denigrate their sacrifices. I’ve lost friends to foreign wars and those gallant souls went and died because they truly believed in the fight for freedom. THEY are the heroes. They are the stout of heart. THEY are the saints.

The men and women that sent them there and sold their lives so carelessly are the sinners.

Yes, liberty MUST be bought and paid for. Yes, it must be defended and fought for. But what if it’s your country that is stealing those freedoms from you with the sales jargon that we must defeat the “EVIL-DOERS” that would rip those rights and freedoms from us? People who, for the most part, couldn’t even scrape up the change to get an invading army here if WE didn’t fund and arm them. What if you woke up someday and realized that the very dream you’ve been living is all wrong? Would you finally go to war against the true enemy, the oligarchy once the glamour has been stripped away…or would you be waiting for some brave soldier to do it for you?

This is a true dichotomy and contradiction. We are asked to support our troops, but to what end? So their families can have flags? “Here child. Here is a nice need tri-folded American flag. The sum total of your father’s / mother’s worth. Enjoy!” That’s a pretty damned poor return on our and their investment…wouldn’t you say?

Here endeth the lecture.
