Meet Harry J. Anslinger.

He is the single-most important figure responsible for the prohibition of a miraculously diverse herb that can be used in the manufacture of everything from Rope to fabrics to soaps to plastics to building materials of all types and the list goes on and on.
Marijuana in now being used to treat pain, depression and yes, even many types of cancers. Plus, and these are documented:
1. Treatment for symptoms of AIDS
2. Glaucoma
3. Neuropathy (diseases affecting the nerves or nerve cells) Ex. epilepsy
4. Nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy
5. Pain caused by structural or psycho-physiological disorders
6. Muscular spasticity and limb pain (multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury)
7. Symptoms of movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Tourette’s syndrome
8. Appetite stimulant for diseases of malnutrition (cachexia or starvation)
9. Nausea and vomiting (general)
10. Migraine headaches

Anslinger single handedly fomented and propagated a push to criminalize the use and/or possession of marijuana upon his appointment as head of the Bureau of Prohibition in 1930. The truly insidious thing about this fascist prick of a human being is that his campaign was fueled by his hatred of “darkies, spics and entertainers”. A bastion to the bigoted arrogant empowered corrupt ’authorities’ that have burgeoned into a prison for profit slave market.

Last year, even with the relaxed, decriminalization and outright legalization of the substance in many U.S. states, the FBI reported over 750,000 marijuana arrests.

I was unable to find any actual statistics concerning how many people have been incarcerated since Asslicker took office in 1930, but to come up with a conservative figure I supposed that of the 750,000 maybe 500,000 were successfully prosecuted to incarceration, and since the relaxed legal attitude in the U.S. I used that figure as a model for all the years between then and now. In actuality it’s probably much higher.

1930 – 2014 = 84 × 500,000 = 400,000,000. That’s four hundred million lives torn apart by persecution for something so beneficial that it actually qualifies as mana from God. And it’s still illegal in most states. This MUST change.

Case in point: Jacob Lavoro is a teenager facing life in prison for baking marijuana brownies in Round Rock, Texas. And here’s the travesty of his prosecution; he used hash oil, only about ten drops, but the legal system is charging him with the total weight of the brownies as if it were over a pound of marijuana, a felony. It’s bullshit and if Governor Carey doesn’t intervene, he should be horse whipped.

What the privatized prison system and the “war on drugs” has created in this country is a slave system in which erstwhile innocents are sold into the prison system for the profits of the criminal elite. We The People have not only got a heap of change to make in this regard, but also to atone for because we, through ignorance, gullibility and complacency have allowed it to happen. And Harry J. Anslinger started it all. May he burn in hell.
