Artist's Description

Built in Beverley, Yorkshire by Cook, Welton and Gemmel Shipyard and launched on 2nd June 1959. this historic 450 tonne lightship had been stationed at Spurn Head, protecting vessels from the dangerous sandbanks around the Humber Estuary.
Originally named ‘SPURN LV14’ and owned by the Humber Conservancy Board until she was decommissioned in 1985,

Now resident in Gloucester UK and owned by Light-Ship Therapies, the ship has been converted for use as an alternative therapy studio, it was renamed SULA in March 2010.
