Almost too painful to fly

My wings folded
dim in luster
no strong flaps
to climb me above forsaken clouds

Naked
I embraced myself
weak plume clothing
the exposure

I feel you
standing behind me
my sixth-sense in full
don’t have to see you
to know you want me

Written on a single white feather
your possession
turned black with ink
droplets of night
mapped the path
of a fallen angel’s heartbeat

looking at the sky
wanting to reach it
but never able to hone
the skill to fly

Too much pain
anchoring me to Earth
Or is it love?

I can hear you breathe
Hot exhale upon my wings
Never knew of passion in flight

Your hand stretched
to reach one ink feather
the rest tingle
skin vibrates at your touch

Will you set me free?

A single motion
swift
you pluck the darkness from my light
My wings
they spread
far and wide
glowing of snow white blankets
on Everest’s summit
The old plume carried
by sister wind

You kiss my nape
and whisper
“I set you free”

I… fly…

Almost too painful to fly

Artist's Description

I was doodling to pass time and something just sprung from this one doodle. It practically wrote itself.

If you ever DO find an angel… set it free with love.
