Integrity

Integrity; 3-30-09

A friend of mine helped me recently.
They told me I need integrity.
Two books helped me learn what integrity was.
The dictionary defined integrity as an “Adherence to moral and ethical principles”.
So integrity is having steady devotion to what we believe is right.

My friend said “Wisdom is knowing what path to take next…integrity is taking it”.
I believe I have wisdom.
I believe God gave it to me because I asked for it. (John 8:47)
Now I’ve learned that wisdom without integrity has a key element missing to it if I want to become a good man.
Though we are saved by grace it is what we do that shows our faith. (Matthew 7:21)
Without integrity I have lost too many good things in life to go on being this way.

How do we bring integrity into our lives?
Though I am not a fully integral myself I have found some things that give me strength.

First and foremost is prayer. (Matthew 7:7-8)
It is promised to us that if we ask God for something we will receive it.
I have learned that asking God for help makes the difference.
I am learning that talking to Him all the time is even better.
If I don’t let Him in my heart the devil doesn’t have to try too hard to make me fall.

Friends also strengthen me.
They are people that are willing to be bluntly honest.
It is those honest truths that cut the garbage out of my life. (John 8:32)
It is not easy to hear about my faults but I must listen.
It takes love for someone to lift me up by telling me the truth.
It might cost them everything to do it.

Spending time thinking helps me understand my problems.
Thinking sounds like a simple solution but how often do we think?
Lucifer uses the world to distract us from using our minds.
From video games to gossip our minds are filled with distractions.
Get outside somewhere and spend time thinking with God.(Mark 1:35,Mark 6:46)
What better place is there to find Him then His creation?

Once we start to learn integrity we will be able to change the world.
It will be our hands working for Him that will make a difference.
We will be able to turn around and help or friends become stronger too.
Know that He already asked for our help. (Luke 10:1-3)
We don’t have much time.
He is coming soon.

John 8:47 (N I V)
“He who belongs to God hears what God says.”

Matthew 7:21 (N I V)
“Not all who sound religous are really godly people. They may refer to me as ‘Lord’, but still won’t get into heaven. For the decisive question is whether they obey my Father in heaven.”

Matthew 7:7-8 (N I V)
“Ask, and you will be given what you ask for. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Anyone who seeks, finds. If only you will knock the door will be opened.”

John 8:32 (N I V)
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Mark 1:35 (N I V)
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Mark 6:46 (N I V)
“After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.”

Luke 10:1-3 (N I V)
“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.”
