The Truth: Why I should be president of the US (For a Brick Fish Scholarship)

The Truth

Two simple words that speak wonders, can move a nation, silence the corrupt, and stagger the world. Two simple words that we hardly hear any more when we look to our leaders, when we look to the people we expect to know the truth, speak the truth, and ensure that we, the people, are safe and secure and are knowledgeable of what is truly happening around us.

The truth, I speak of truth because we know nothing of the truth, nothing of what is and is not when it comes to our current administration. What is and is not when it comes to current candidates for the presidency. What is and is not when it comes to the country we believed was safe. The truth, that is all I ask as a citizen, to know if we went to war for the right reasons, if the government is systematically removing what is meant when we say “I am a United States citizen.”

The truth, I ask for the truth, the real reason behind the Patriot Act and its recursive secondary act that removes our rights as citizens and literally destroys the foundation of this country at its very core. I am not saying I would be the best president, nor would I ever claim that. But I would ensure the truth, fight for what this nation is meant to be and not for what it has become.

I would ensure the rights of the people, remove the censorships that blind us from the truth, remove the patriot act which removes our abilities as a people and as a nation to function. To function with out fear that those corrupt enough to enact such infectious plaque would no longer hold the power to manipulate this country and its people.

The truth; the truth so many have feared and so many have pushed from their minds for better thoughts, diluted thoughts of what this country is, I shall show the world.
It will not be kind, it will not be fair or bright, but it would be the truth and all that that entails.

I would, as president, take hold of the dead and dying few who cling to their monetary devoutness and strangle them from their place and start this country a new. I would remove, in a safe time frame, our soldiers from Iraq and help them reintegrate into our society, even if I must by my own hand. I will re-subsidize the US economy and put in place the necessary provisions to help all families who are at or below the poverty line so that no child goes hungry in our country.

What disgusts me is the commercials that speak of the diseased and starving people of Darfur, when we, as a people, cannot even save the some thirty four million people here, in the US, who are starving or in poverty. What disgusts me is the greed of our country and its people. The consumerist digestion that we seek, that only destroys the economy and the ecology of this country.

If I were president of this United States the people would come first, not the idea of war, not the prostration of corporations and drug companies, the people.
As I speak this now, the education system is failing, state run universities are dumbing down their efforts and stunting their students so they can make a quick buck, while being praised for their lacking efforts. And we wonder why our children are suffering and showing decreasing results in standardized evaluations.

My fellow citizens, not Americans, not United States Citizens, just my fellow people, I ask you this, here and now. The Truth, are you ready for the truth, or do you want to lay down in the shadows of those who say they know what is best for you? Are you ready to take charge of the country that was meant to be for freedom and liberty and justice, or do you wish to follow as sheep, blindly herded by the shepherds that now lead you ever further into the darkness of economical and social ruin?

If you are ready, if you want the truth, and if you want this country to be what it was meant for and what we have fought for, then choose me as your president, and let the truth be heard.
