In the Moment

Reaching out to an empty sight
A light, a flash, to remember you by
Where will you be tonight?

Sitting here looking in on a blank slate
A story, a man, a dangerous place
Were you here before or there on purpose long

To see a broken brick that once stood
Held in so strong
Cold and crumbled, as the brown yellow grass bends
Lain beneath your feet.

Was your father mean, your mother plain
A sister who could not speak?
Or maybe you were once too happy
When you fell, did you fall?
