Protection of an Angel, Destruction of the Devil.

All my life, all I’ve ever known
is that protection of an Angel,
her solitary wings wrapped safely around me
Keeping all the taunting evils at bay,
chasing all my fears away.
The comfort of an angel,
protection of an angel all around me.

Darkness, pain, and anger,
Sadness, rivalry, and tears,
Testing my limits,
wearing down the strength left inside of me so thin
This is the destruction of the Devil
surrounding me so suddenly
The protection is gone,
the evils from the outside
fraying its wings and
dimming its halo
suddenly, I’m on my own again…

Free falling, so fast
Darkness eliminating every ray of light
Diminishing any hope, leaving me no will to fight.
I just need that angel to make everything right.

Just as I’m about to fall to the ground,
body limp, lifeless, heart not making a sound,
I’m at my lowest, finally.
The destruction of the Devil brought me down
But just as I’m about to give up and surrender,
familiarity, comfort, and warmth surround me once again.
My protection, my home, found once again,
but not for long.
That playful twinkle in her eye is gone,
The trusting wings. so very weak,
And, ever so quietly, with every bit of life left in her,
She whispers in my ear,
“When I’m gone, you have to learn to fly on your own..”

And with that, a silent tear rolls down her cheek,
and she slowy fades away, gone forever…

Protection of an Angel, Destruction of the Devil.
