Superficial

Hopes held high for those who shine,
come back strong with that one-two punch
with that superficial smile painted perfect on your face.
Don’t let them see you’re weak.
You’re gonna walk this lonely mile
with your head held high, lookin’ towards the sky
sayin…

I’m not gonna be that girl
you want me to be.
I’m gonna make mistakes.
I’m gonna say the wrong things.
I can’t fool myself,
this isn’t me.

I’m gonna wake up now,
day by day.
Somehow makin’ life
work in it’s own way.

I know I’m not gonna find Prince Charming,
‘cause I know I’m not fit for the life of a queen.
Nothin’ comes that easy,
it doesn’t work that way.
Sometimes the glass slipper, just doesn’t fit.

But you gotta let your story unfold,
you can’t do what you’re told.
It may not be your pefect fairytale,

But atleast then you get your happy ending.
