Artist's Description

This is the 11th century church of the Holy Cross on the outskirts of Bergneustadt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. It is locally known as Bunte Kirche, meaning the colorful church. It is so called because of the colorful medieval frescoes on its walls. Covered over during the reformation period and for the next 300 years, the frescoes have now been restored.
