Artist's Description

The shot tower on The Channel highway in Hobart, Tasmania, built to make the lead shot for guns. The Tower was built in 1870, and is 60 meteres high with 300 internal steps to the top of the tower.
The gunshot was made by pouring molten lead through a sieve from the top of the tower. The drops of lead became spherical as they fell towards a cooling vat in the bottom of the tower.
The background is the River Derwent.
