Wednesday, July 20, 2011 I spent a day in Utrecht, the city where I have lived for over nine years.
It was my intention to visit a museum, but it became beautiful weather, so I decided to make a town walk.
After a delicious Latte Macchiato at ‘Stadskasteel Oudaen’ I walked via the ‘Jans Kerkhof’ to the ‘Kromme Nieuwegracht’ – a wonderful walk!
On this image a detail of the ‘Stammetsbrug’ a bridge over the ‘Drift’, a canal at the end of the ‘Jans Kerkhof’. The canal was dug between 1390 and 1393. Both, the canal and the street along the canal, are called ‘Drift’. The name ‘Drift’ is originally the route of farmers, herding their cattle to Utrecht. On the Drift are now faculties of the University of Utrecht
