Artist's Description

We celebrated New Year’s Eve with our cousins in Laren, a small village in ‘de Achterhoek’, a part of the province Gelderland, Holland.

It is an old tradition to bake “oliebollen” on New Years Eve.

“Oliebollen” are a kind of fritters, or buns, or donuts, or something like that…. Any way: typical Dutch! And delicious!

You can prepare them natural, with currants, raisins and candied peel, with ginger, with apple, or whatever you want.

This New Years Eve we even tried “oliebollen” with cheese and pate. Delicious too!!!
