A treetop hunter of deciduous forests and suburban areas, the Great Crested Flycatcher is easier to hear than to see. It’s the only eastern flycatcher that nests in cavities, and often includes snakeskin in the nest lining. Other crinkly materials, such as plastic wrappers, cellophane, and onion skin, may also be used. They are rarely seen on the ground and do not walk at all. they fly from place to place. This little guy was not all that hard to spot. He just sat there for a while and posed. I took this with my Nikon D3100 and the 70-300mm zoom lens. It was taken in my yard in Rockaway, NJ USA.
