Any dragonfly enthusiast knows the male twelve-spotted skimmer. The stunning males are dramatic and unmistakable with their alternating wing spots of black and white. I spotted this gorgeous fellow at about 100 feet. They are unmistakable. I followed him around relentlessly until he finally sat still for ten seconds on a twig in my back yard in Rockaway, NJ. These guys are easily one of the most beautiful dragonflies in the world and my favorite to photograph by far right now. I captured this handsome fella with my Nikon D3100 and the Nikon 85mm macro lens..
