The Two Bit Poet

He had all the talent in the world
Its just he chose the wrong heroes
Underworld carnivores
Low men carrying razors and home made shivs
Men who thought nothing of punching people into scarecrows

He turned into a contradiction
Poet playing at two bit punk
I gotta tell ya he was quite the chameleon
Ya see no one noticed

One day he put a gun in his mouth
And pulled the trigger
No bang, only a click
He promised to load it next time

A born romantic, he fell in love
with prostitutes and strippers
Pretty much anyone who was broken

Found himself mixed up in an armed robbery
Got caught, tried and let off scott free
On a technicality
He always was a lucky son of a bitch

Straightened himself out and took to becoming a musician
After a few years he convinced himself that crime was easier
He never could handle rejection
So he went home and put a gun in his mouth
And pulled the trigger

Bang

He always did keep his promises.
