Artist's Description

The wild turkey is one very elusive big bird. Just ask any hunter. I was out driving around in the country here in Kentucky looking for something to photograph. I was back on some very narrow rural country roads when I came to a one lane bridge with out even any sides on it, just planks of wood. It was crossing a creek that had very little water in it. I stopped on the bridge and looked at the creek bottom and wondered if their was something of interest to merit taking a photo of. I was looking at how the creek was winding around and all of a sudden I noticed right in the middle of the creek right in front of a small pool of water was a mother turkey with her 5 chicks. Their camouflage was so good that if one of them had not moved I would not have even noticed them. I wish I had a longer lens on the camera but didn’t dare take the time to change, because I knew as soon as mom spotted me, she and her chicks would be gone. So I would rather have a photo that I wish I could have zoomed more than no photo at all.
