I went over to the dam at Rough River State Park late Monday afternoon (Labor Day) and drove over to the camp grounds to see if there was anything to take photos of. I noticed that there was a sign that read “Nature Trail” I parked the car and wondered if it was too much climbing for me to try. I have very bad arthritis in my spine and knees. Already had to have back surgery once. Need it again but keep putting it off.
I thought I would give it a try so as to know if it will be worth coming back to when the leaves start to turn for the Fall here in Kentucky. Turns out it is a beautiful trail that winds it’s way gracefully through the deep woods. Along the way I crossed two small bridges, then came around a corner when I saw this bench with just the right amount of late afternoon sun winging it’s way through the thick forest. I had hoped to spot a deer but was treated to this little fellow instead. It looked at me as if to say, “come on over there’s plenty of room over here, come sit a spell” I took the shot, didn’t want to disturb him enjoying his last snack before he headed back up into the trees for the night. It was getting late and I was by myself so thought I needed to start back to the car. It was great to be able to get out into the woods again, and I will be back this Fall, if not before.
