This WW2, 1944 Bristol Hercules 100 Aero Engine was used to instruct RAF engine mechanics and fitters on repair and maintenance. You can see the pieces of casing cut out (painted red with white edging) to reveal the working parts.
The Hercules was mainly fitted to the Halifax bomber.
This engine has 14 cylinders arranged in 2 rows around the crankshaft. It’s air-cooled and produces 1,765 horsepower.
