On Holy Island, Lindisfarne, Northumberland, fishermen have long used upturned boats as sheds for storing fishing gear. They and their families used to live in them once upon a time. (These are new old boats for the tourists)
Holy Island is cut off when the tide is in.
The boats are pre-1970. Made into sheds in 2005. See article below.
An old herring boat that was to be disposed of was found in the Leith docks in Edinburgh. The boat was sawn in half and the two pieces used to replace the fire damaged sheds.
