Nikita Khrushchev’s Tupolev Tu-114 aircraft was open to the public at Idlewild AP, now JFK, during a Soviet Trade Exposition in July of 1959. prior to his trip in September for a 12 day visit to the United States.
The stairs had to be borrowed from PanAm as they were the only airline that had extended height ramps necessary to mate with the doors.
