Artist's Description

Chance Vought Photograph AU-1 Corsair

The AU-1 Corsair first flew in late January 1952, re-engineered for a ground attack role during the Korean War. The AU was powered by an R-2700-83W engine rated at 2300hp, slightly less power then the F4U-5.
The AU-1 flew combat missions for the last year and a half of the Korean war… This aircraft was the last piston engine fighter purchased by the US Navy.
