Artist's Description

featured in The World As We See It , or as we missed it & Nature’s Paintbrush

In a wetland area along the Clearfork River in Mohican State Park Forests near Butler, Ohio there was area of green and russet fingers protruding from the waters beside the trail. I have never seen this in mid February, but then again, I can’t recall a winter such as this in Ohio. I stepped closer for a better view, treading cautiously so I would not disturb or damage these residents of the wetlands, for as I drew nearer I noticed that they were everywhere! I did not recognize these lifeforms, nor could I recall having seen them before. Were they terrestrial… or *extra*terrestrial… I could not dismiss the possibility, having spent many a darkened Saturday afternoon in the movie palaces of the 1950’s and early 1960’s getting scared out of my wits by the latest sci-fi and horror films of that era. To me, they appeared to be possibly plants from a distant galaxy, seeded here during a meteor shower portrayed in a film titled The Day of the Triffids
The waters surrounding these creatures were mesmerising…could it be…?

straight from the box: Nikon P500; f/5.7; 1/25 second {hand held}; ISO 200; focal length 144 mm
