He was caught on a electric barb wire fence
Meant to keep us from them
I was hovering on neither side in the air
Just watching helplessly as he struggled
Each movement further tearing and scorching his flesh
I heard a woman laughing as he lay defeated
I felt a part of me die along with him
In one last ditch attempt he arose
With the resolve of the desperate
Crawled through
A bloody mess
His eyes rolled back in his head with only the whites showing
His efforts had left him blinded
All he got was a glimpse of the better life he could have had
