Artist's Description

Our story continues:

…When the hand of the clock ticked one past midnight, the door to his chamber swung open, and in a rustle of silk, velvet and perfume the ladies swept in. The one with the French horn and honey colored hair of a familiar hue stepped forward and lowered her mask to reveal…his own wife, the Queen Jocasta. So steeped in his own misery he had been these past months, he had scarce noticed her absence. Her kookiburra darted forward to snatch up the crumb that had dropped from his stunned lower lip. “Wardlaw, you are a terrible tyrant” she stated calmly “and this realm and our family can afford your reign no longer. And by the way, you seem to have forgotten that I was a natural redhead and shall be again, ass.” The jester unmasked herself as his eldest, Vivienne, accompanied by a griffin that growled through its beak at the king. “Father, I’d like to introduce my dearly betrothed, Victoria. It is so nice yet unnecessary to have your blessing.” Of course, the elegant young lady in the blue velvet gown was his middle daughter Hannah and her saxophone-playing paramour, Hassadah. The king slumped in his chair and said, “Hello, Charlotte” as the peacock fanned out his spectacle of a tail behind his youngest. He raised an eyebrow at the swan-hatted older lady behind her who had raised her sleeve to scratch gently at an intricate tattoo on her forearm. “Oh Daddy, we’re just friends,” said Charlotte “that’s the Witch of the Wood, Boudicca. And it really would be best if you listened to everything she has to say.”
