Wake Me When I'm Free

My life is like a reoccurring nightmare
That I sleep through every day.
At night my soul and spirit live,
But every morning find to my dismay
The time has come for my soul to sleep
And march through the nightmare that is life.
As the sun rises my spirit sleeps
So I can avoid this unnecessary strife.
I would rather sleep through a nightmare
Scripted by Edgar Allen Poe
Than live through a minute of this drudgery,
The daily life that I know.
As the moon rises my soul and spirit awake
For a night of mental exoneration.
As my eyes shut I put a temporary end to this incarceration.
But the time has come for me to sleep
Until my day of liberation.
My soul and spirit patiently awake
For the day they can rise with the sun.
But that won’t be tomorrow or the day after,
So now I have to wait for that day to come.
As I awake I fall asleep
Through another day of Residential Therapy.
So wake me when I’m free
because I cannot bear this captivity.
So wake me when I’m free,
The day I can break my shackles of this slavery.
