Artist's Description

In 1938 HRG announced the 1100cc model using an OHC engine from Singer Motors Ltd.
Post-war, the 1100 and 1500 2-seaters continued being made to the same pre-war design.

I am grateful to Will Mahany for e-mailing me with the correct information on this car that I originally captioned as post war:
“Nice study of the HRG, HPJ 339, at VSCC silverstone 2011. However, the caption is not quite right since HPJ 339 is in fact a pre-war 1939 car. One of only 8 built pre WW2. There were 49 1100 HRGs in total, 1938 to 1949.”
Then later:
“That particular car is owned by Ian Mahany. I own three HRGs, a 1938 “1100” Le Mans Model reg HPF 700 and a 1947 “1500” reg JGO 452. Another, HOP 279, is currently under restoration and will be out and about later this year."

Photographed at the Vintage Sports Car Club “Spring Start” race meeting, Silverstone, 23rd April 2011.
